The annual Crazy8s short film competition has its line-up of six contenders, each set to produce a short film in eight days starting March 16. The contenders were narrowed down by an industry jury from 118 who initally pitched in December.
The directors are: Camille Mitchell with the family drama A Mother’s Love; Elle-Maija Tailfeathers with the vigilante tale A Red Girl’s Reasoning; Doreen Manuel with the murder mystery Babies in the Wall; Carleen Kyle with High Pressure Area, about a weather girl in crisis; Andrew Rowe with the insomnia satire Sleepy Stories; and Marhsall Axani with the thriller The Vessel.
Winners each get $1,000 and a package of support donated by B.C. industry players, as well as mentoring and casting assistance. The finished films get a gala screening March 30 at the Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts. Ticket information is here.
